Adults and elders take action for climate justice

If you’re like me, you’re inspired by young people across the globe, preparing to strike for climate justice.

I know I’m not the only one who feels called to follow their leadership.

As adults, it’s time for us to answer the call from young people and hold other adults accountable. That’s why we’re planning to show up to support the strike on September 20 as well as planning an action for Thursday, September 26.

Based on our meetings with PECO, and its complete lack of action or commitment, it’s time to turn up the heat. We don’t believe that PECO needs to be convinced or have a change of heart. PECO needs to feel pressure. And as each adult who understands the power of direct action steps up, carrying the conviction and commitment of young people with us, we can hold PECO’s feet to the fire.

Will you join us on September 26 to do our part as adults, putting pressure on corporations to take action on climate change?

We’re also hosting a training for adults and youth in 8th grade or older on Sunday, September 22. Join us if you can!

Some people will be risking arrest as part of this action, but you’re welcome to participate at whatever level of risk is right for you. (Send me a note if you want help thinking about that!) If you are willing to risk arrest, we ask that you come to the training on Sunday, September 22.

P.S. A group of us will be meeting up before joining the youth climate strike at the LOVE statue at 10:45 am on September 20. Hope to see you there!
